Digital Video Technology and Children
By Trevor | July 18, 2007
Children have a habit of being more technology savvy than their grown ups, it is just a fact of life nowadays and it is as true with digital video technology as with anything else electronic.
Many kids are experimenting with digital video technology today a prime example being camera phones and compact cameras capable of recording digital video.
The quality may not be fantastic from these devices but it gives kids a start into the wonderful world of digital video technology
From there it is only s small step to a camcorder and some serious film making.
Let your child have the opportunity to experiment with light and dark, shadows, black and white and color films, and you will be surprised what she or he will come up with! Many kids will make little home movies with friends or pets in the starring roles.
Older kids who are more savvy with digital video technology may relish the opportunity to record feature length shows, such as graduations or soccer games. You never know they might actually be able to make a bit of money by selling copies of the recordings to other team players and their parents. Nothing like the promise of a financial reward to encourage creativity!
Thinking on there are serious business opportunities as wedding video filmmakers or even a career in TV and film.
I personally used digital video technology to record my young family growing up and although it is nice to look back at still photos it is much more fun to see action movies of family adventures, holidays and parties. You can build up a very emotional account of your children’s lives this way.
I encourage my children to use cameras and understand the technology involved, it can only help them to prepare for their life ahead at work or at school.
